Ms Annalien Carstens

Board Member

Mrs Annalien Carstens was appointed in 2024 as a Board member.

Her solution specialisms include IFRS, IFRS for SMEs, IPSAS, GRAP, ISAs, ISQM 1 and SCM. She has 25+ years of experience in the field.  She is serving as pre-issuance reviewer for the Auditor General since 2006 for the annual PFMA, MFMA and TVET cycles.

She has her MCom, CA(SA) and is an Registered Auditor, Chartered Tax Adviser Managing Director of Altimax.

In the GRAP, Modified Cash and IFRS space in the public sector, Annalien lead consulting and training projects for:

  • More than 50 national and provincial departments, legislatures, trading entities and constitutional entities
  • More than 170 state owned entities and public entities
  • More than 150 municipalities
  • More than 20 institutions of higher education

She also managed several projects sponsored by the European Union and other foreign donor agencies.

She furthermore served more than 200 private audit firms with firm monitoring reviews, engagement quality and file monitoring reviews, methodology development, policy development, ISQM 1 implementations, CA2025 implementations and professional and trainee training

Annalien is the lead director on the external quality assurance of the Auditor General ISQM 1 implementation.

She is a member of the Financial Reporting Technical Committee of the Financial Reporting Standards Council.

Annalien is the chairperson of the SAICA Northern Region Public Sector Committee; a member of the SAICA National Public Sector Committee and she is the public sector representative on both the SAICA Northern Region Council and the SAICA Pretoria District Committee.

Lastly she was a finalist in both the 2022 and 2023 SAICA Difference Maker awards for the categories of Public Sector and Nation Building respectively.
