
Board Member
Mr Ian Engelmohr was appointed in 2026 as a Board member.
Mr Ian Engelmohr, is a seasoned public sector finance specialist with extensive experience in municipal financial management, planning, reporting and compliance.
He is a Chartered Accountant and currently serves as Divisional Head: Financial Planning and Accounting at Drakenstein Municipality – the largest secondary city in the Western Cape.
In this role, he leads strategic financial functions including budgeting and forecasting, long-term financial sustainability planning, revenue modelling, and the implementation of Standards of GRAP. He provides technical and strategic support to the executive leadership team and is responsible for key deliverables such as the annual financial statements, municipal budget documentation, and statutory reporting in accordance with the Municipal Finance Management Act and mSCOA. His work focuses on promoting sound financial stewardship, strengthening transparency and accountability, and advancing best practice in municipal financial reporting and governance.
Prior to his current role, he completed his articles with the Auditor-General of South Africa and subsequently served as a technical consultant and trainer in public sector accounting and reporting.
He is recognised for his analytical rigour, strong technical expertise and commitment to enhancing financial governance and long-term sustainability within the public sector.
