Have your say – what should the ASB’s focus be for 2024-2026?

The ASB is developing its work programme for 2024 to 2026 and is asking for your views on what it should do. The ASB is asking for views on its “strategic theme” for three years, as well as the specific projects it should execute.

The ASB is aware of the limited resources available to entities  due to the poor state of South Africa’s economy and the need to prioritise resources to respond to the effects of the pandemic. As a result, the ASB proposes using the period 2024-2026 to “take stock”. This means that the ASB will have a more internal focus and spend time streamlining and improving Standards, the standard-setting process, issuing communication material, etc., rather than issuing too many new pronouncements. However, there are  several new or revised IPSAS that have been or are being issued. An alternative to “taking stock” is that the ASB spends time aligning Standards of GRAP with IPSAS.

A consultation document is available on the ASB’s website and outlines its key proposals and questions. Access the document here.

We will be hosting roundtable discussions in the New Year and asking questions related to the ASB’s future work on social media. Keep checking our website and social media pages for more information.
