The accountancy profession  enhances the delivery of healthcare in Africa

This is probably an unexpected headline! Why or how would accountants be involved in the enhancement of delivery of healthcare in Africa? The answer to this is that credible accounting and reporting,  supported by  strong policies, processes and internal controls,  can be  lifechanging  for health care organisations in Africa.

The International Federation of Accounts (IFAC) launched a capacity building programme in Ghana and Burkina Faso with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. These programmes aim to enhance the accounting infrastructure within the profession and the public sector, with a view to  producing high-quality information to make decisions.

This is an  example where the public, private and non-for-profit sectors could cooperate to improve the lives of those in need.
