The ASB can contribute to the global fight against corruption

The International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) issued its anti-corruption plan outlining the important role professional accountants play in fighting corruption. IFAC emphasis the role that high quality accounting standards – issued by credible standard-setters – can play in the eliminating fraud and corruption.

Accounting standards are not designed to identify and report fraud and corruption. However, relevant, timely, verifiable information that faithfully represents the economic activities of an entity help users to hold entities accountable.
